preparing for my third (and final year) of university
despite september '22 feeling like it was only a few weeks ago (i blame covid for time going missing), in just a few weeks i will be starting my final year at brighton university! this is how i am preparing to re-enter my student life and attempting to be a 10/10 student (not going to last very long)
for first semester i am doing my legal clinic, as well as equity and trusts and land law. i have heard that these aren't the easiest or most entertaining modules so any preparation will definitely help. with law the textbooks can be very helpful, however they are so expensive! so unless you know you will be able to sell them on or are going to use textbooks after completing a module, it probably isn't worth buying them, so here are my alternatives; the library. our library always has copies of the textbooks, but you should try get in there and get them when you know what textbooks you need before they all go. you can also borrow the textbooks when you feel you need them, like assignment times. as well as this, my library also gives us access to the textbooks online, so you can look at them from anywhere. you can download certain sections at a time which may be handy for revision or pre-notes.
i personally struggle with reading online (unless it's a magazine article), and i prefer to read on paper where i can make notes, so i try to print out certain sections purely for my note-taking purposes.
also!! pre-reading is significant if you are like me and struggle to digest information, so before semester starts i try download as much pre-reading as possible and look at the weekly plans to get prepared so you aren't going in blind.
this year i'm commuting to uni as i just found renting way too expensive, no matter what budgeting i tried. i ended up moving out early and working at my home restaurant a lot more to save up because i felt like all the money i had was going towards rent. this means i can stay home! the train is only 1 and a half hours, which isn't too bad. however, i have decided to buy a new case for my iPad, a new laptop case and i am trying to find a bag that will last so many train journeys aha
the biggest thing to remember when it comes to university is as much as it is significant to push the boat out, also remember it is okay to struggle. there are people to help, my tutor has been incredible with the struggles i have had and so incredibly understanding.
enjoy uni :)
